Hello!

As a brief introduction:
I live in Boulder, CO and really like to eat. This blog is meant to express how much I enjoy Boulder restaurants and on some level to rate which ones are my favorites. This is not supposed to be some sort of professional unbiased rating system- (for instance as I don't like seafood you won't find Jax Fish House on here!), It is just a collection of my favorite places to eat. If you have any comments or suggestions I'd love to hear them!

Enjoy!

Tiffin Wallahs

Tiffins is a North-Indian style eatery which opened in late 2011. They serve only (delicious!) vegetarian food and have gluten-free and vegan options for those of you who are so inclined. The menu is available at http://www.tiffinsrestaurant.com/.

Tiffins is located at the intersection of Folsom and Araphahoe in Boulder. It can be a bit tough to find if you don't know where it is- sandwiched between Coldstone Creamery and Papa John's. As I sat in Tiffins enjoying my lunch-dinner I wondered why on Earth people were cruising into Papa John's for "pizza" when they could spend the same amount on a wonderous feast at Tiffins- alas, marketing and familiarity strike again.

Tiffins is not what I'd call a well decorated restaurant, nor would I call it a poorly decorated restaurant, in fact I wouldn't call it decorated at all.

The very barren inners of Tiffins

The food however is wonderful. It is full of spice but not exactly spicy. The food isn't for the very feint of heart (if you can't handle your peppers then don't order what I did!) The menu is pretty short- I had the Samosa plate and the Masala Dosa- both fried dough around a potato based filling which were jammed with delicious spices.
Wonderful Samosa
Lovable Dosa
The Samosas are served with a spicy green accompaniment and a sweeter brown sauce. I chowed down and finished both.

The Masala Dosa is at least a foot and half long! It is served with a spice filled brown sauce and a minty-soft white one, too. Also, there is soup served along side! It has potato, onions, and other vegetables and is again quite spicy.

It is certainly a full meal all by itself, but the more the merrier is what I figured!

As I mentioned I would consider the food spicy and if you can't handle that sort of thing then perhaps Tiffins isn't for you. But every time I leave Tiffins and roll away on my bicycle I feel more content than after I eat anywhere else in Boulder. It is certainly one of my favorite places in town. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking an answer to "Where should we get Chinese?", "I'm tired of all the old places.", or "I'm hungry!". Go to Tiffins!

I've given some thought to a scoring system- I'll be frank I don't care much about decor or service. If either is noticeably terrible then I'll make mention of it in the review. Instead I will rank restaurants based solely on what matters most to me; food.

I will rank on presentation which includes how the food is served (how it is put on the plate and how the sauces are incorporated), originality- (is there anything like it in Boulder?), Deliciousness- is it tasty? To make matters easier I will rank it on a 9 point scale, each category contributing 3 points.

Presentation: 1/3
Originality: 3/3
Delicousness:  3/3

Composite score:7/9
